A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond, MN for Blair Bauer, age 65, who died Monday at his home.
Blair Brice Bauer was born July 6th, 1949 in Fargo, ND, the son of Ted and Norma (Lasher) Bauer. Blair graduated from high school in Mott, ND. After high school Blair attended North Dakota State University and graduated with a degree in Speech Pathology. Blair accepted a position in Dickinson, ND with the Dickinson Public School System.
On July 15, 1972 Blair was united in marriage to Janet Wehking in Hector, MN. Shortly after, Blair earned his Master’s Degree in Audiology from Minot State University. Blair earned his Doctorate of Chiropractic at Palmer College in Davenport, IA. Blair and Jan then returned to Dickinson, ND, where he continued to practice until his retirement in 2011. During that time he was involved with the Elks Lodge and served as Exalted Ruler and was a member of the Dickinson Rotary Club.
Blair was involved with the North Dakota Chiropractic Association, serving on the board until being elected as president from 1993-1995. In 1996 Blair received the NDCA Chiropractor of the Year and in 2007 received the NDCA Honorary Lifetime Membership. Blair was also an American Chiropractic Association Representative from 1995-2003 and was a member of the Board of Governors. He earned his Diplomate of the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedics and worked as a consultant for the North Dakota Workers’ Compensation Bureau.
In 2012 Blair and Janet moved to Richmond, MN where they found their dream retirement home on the Horseshoe Chain of Lakes. Blair was an avid hunter and birdwatcher and was a sports fanatic. He enjoyed reading, exploring Minnesota, and spending time with family and friends.
Blair and Jan were blessed with two children; Brett (Brittany), and Whitney. In 2013, Blair and Jan became grandparents to twins, Vivian and Brice Bauer.
Blair’s generous spirit, faithful friendship, and wonderful zest for life will be greatly missed by all. He had a genuine warmth and concern for his patients and friends. His children were the light of his life. Blair is survived by the love of his life, Jan; son, Brett (Brittany) Bauer, Buffalo, MN; daughter, Whitney Bauer, Minneapolis, MN; two grandchildren, Brice and Vivian Bauer; brother, Lane (Julie) Bauer, Las Cruces, NM; sister-in-law Roxanne Bauer, Bismarck, ND; nieces and nephews; and stepfather, Ernest Mueller, New Leipzig, ND. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Norma; and brother, Mark.
DeAnne and I were so sorry to hear of Blair's passing. Although we lost touch over the years through distance, I often recall many fond memories of Minot and Dickinson. As his audiology professor and hunting buddy up and down highway 10 there were many good times. It is clear from these many messages how much he will be missed.

I remember many times, one was when Blair and Janet lived in Davenport in the 70's and came on some weekends to Pekin, when we would fix cars, talk, listen to the radio and he asked us to quiz him on the bones in the body to learn what he needed to know to become a Chiropractor. Many great times and memories. We traveled there one time and Dad insisted on driving a 52 or so Chevy coup. Quite roomy. I remember getting there and they knew so many people and had so many friends. We met some. I was very taken back by the hospitality and comrade of everyone.

Condolences to the family. Blair was always good for a story, or advice. It was truly a pleasure to see him at seminars or meetings. He was a mentor and friend to many of us younger doctors in the state association. I will truly miss his company.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I have so many wonderful memories of Blair that go back to the days when we were students and he'd come to Palmer for meetings. He was so good to Dion and me and his kindness and generosity continued when we came to Dickinson to practice. He is the reason Dion became a chiropractor and he was a mentor to both of us. I'll miss seeing his smiling face. He'd always stop in when he came back to Dickinson and it was so great to see him at seminars. I can't go out for a drink with Dion and not think of Blair when I hear Dion say "one more and that's it and I mean it" or Fletcher/Feltcher. So many great memories of him. He will be so missed. Our prayers are with you. May you find peace in your many happy memories of him.-- Maripat and DIon
