Bruce M. Berg Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 4, 2022, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Richmond, MN for Bruce M. Berg, age 70, who died Friday at the St. Cloud Hospital. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. A visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Wenner Funeral Home in Richmond. Prayer Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Friday morning from 9:00-10:15 a.m. at the funeral home. Bruce was born on February 8, 1952, in Robbinsdale, MN to Francis and Regina (Dockendorf) Berg. He married Susan Peterson on September 14, 1974, in Sacred Heart Church, Robbinsdale, MN. Bruce was a man of profound spirituality and prayer who lived the Gospel message in word and deed through his strong Catholic faith and as a proud 43-year member of AA where he held several leadership positions and was a sponsor to many. Regardless of his multiple health issues, Bruce continued to enjoy fishing/hunting, most especially with brother-in-law, Larry, and his bi-annual outings with Boy Scout dads. Bruce's earlier career, along with his brothers, was as a proud professional truck driver for Barrett Moving and Storage and later with Anoka County Corrections. He was welcomed to his eternal life by daughter, Sarah; parents, Francis and Regina; sisters, Audrey Thomas and Nancy Schoening; nephew, Jeff Berg and niece/goddaughter, Jeni Thomas, along with others whom he loved and who loved him. He is survived by his wife, Sue (47yrs); son, Matthew; daughter, Andrea (Jesse) Kollmann; grandsons, Sawyer and Simon Kollmann; brothers, Duane (Pam), John Henry (best life-time friend); sister, Joan (Peter) Bednarczyk and many other dear family, friends and AA members. Bruce had many touching and enduring relationships: Son, brother, husband, father, uncle, Godfather, friend, sponsor. But of all these, "PAPA" was the most endearing in which he delighted always. He taught Sawyer and Simon about the Catholic faith and the compassionate love of Jesus. An ardent reader, "Papa" read to his boys over the phone every evening before bedtime. Bruce ALWAYS thought of others first. Shortly before he was ventilated, he invited and encouraged the other Grandpa to read to their precious boys. Grandpa Wally has taken on the mantel with love, dedication and gratitude. Bruce - you were to all of us our "living" saint on earth. "When he shall die, cut him into little stars and he will make the face of heaven so fine that all the world will fall in love with night and pay no worship to the garish sun." Memorials preferred to the family.
