LaVerne Schouviller

December 24, 1930 - June 10, 2018

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring, MN for LaVerne Schouviller age 87, who died Sunday, June 10, at the St. Cloud Hospital after a long battle with Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD). Burial will be in the parish cemetery. A gathering of family and friends will be from 9:00 – 10:45 a.m. Thursday morning in the Church Narthex. LaVerne was born in St. Cloud, MN to Joseph and Martha (Pallansch) Hansen. She married the love of her life, Bernie Schouviller on October 1, 1955 in St. Boniface Catholic Church in Cold Spring. A lifelong resident of Cold Spring, LaVerne spent her life helping others, in whatever capacity she could. She was a gentle soul, who had a very quick wit to her. LaVerne loved talking to people and spending time with family and friends. In the later years of her mother’s life, LaVerne quit her job to care for her. She lived her life as we all should, caring for others. She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, as well as the Cold Spring Legion Auxiliary. She was very proud to work with this wonderful organization. She is survived by her son, Mark (Sharon); two grandchildren, Breanna and Caleb; sister-in-law, Toni Hansen; nieces and nephews; her godchild, Debbie Peine, who she loved like a daughter; as well as many friends and neighbors. LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernie (1998); brother, Vernon Hansen (2017); brothers and sisters-in-law, Ray (Dorothy) Schouviller, Ruth (Wesley) Backlund, Eleanor (Jim) Jordahl, Viola (Bernard) Brinkman, Lillian (John) Sichak, Roy Schouviller, Theresa Marie and Anna Marie Schouviller; and her special friend Delores Schiemann. The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who has assisted LaVerne with her care, especially the staff of the St. Cloud Hospital, Assumption Home of Cold Spring as well as her doctors, Dr. Frank Barnaby and Dr. Shawn McGee. Your professionalism and compassion will never be forgotten.
